RPS Floating LiDAR Buoys arrive safely in South Korea

RPS’ Australian MetOcean team shipped two new Floating LiDAR buoys to South Korea recently where they are now waiting for deployment.

3rd June 2021

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions the Australian team couldn’t be on-site to oversee this activity themselves – but thanks to our partnerships and local presence through Sam Roh, our new Country Manager South Korea, we are still able to deploy and operate these buoys on time.

Once deployed these buoys will spend 12 months moored some 80km out to sea collecting wind and wave data to validate the wind resource and assess design conditions for our client. And we’re also working on the construction and validation of new LiDAR buoys - the validations should be complete by the end of July 2020, with the equipment ready for shipping shortly after.
